Hello, hope you are not all too wet this week, the sun is trying to come out today anyway!!  I am getting busy for the Harrogate Home and Gift fair that starts this Sunday until Wednesday 18th.  The is is a very large and popular trade fair which focuses mainly on Design led gift ware with a smattering of individual designer makers such as myself.  I have been busy in the studio this week rustling up yet another new range to entice shop owners to order and here is a small smaple from the latest 'Flower Gems' collection.  There are 18 different coloured earrings and many, many combinations of the pretty coloured necklaces to choose from.  They will be making an appearance in Midas after the show so come in and treat yourself to a 'Gem' of jewellery soon.

New range by Dee Barnes, Ladybird charm necklace.

Spring is in the air!!

It must be getting warmer because today i am wearing my sandals!! I hear you all gasp, as it is still February but tomorrow its March and this means daffodils, new buds, the clocks going forward and a sense of great things to come such as the Queens Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics.  These events do create a feeling of celebration and togetherness whether you join in or not.
I am working on a limited edition jewellery range using old stamps cast in resin and charms with the Jubilee in mind and will post images when the samples are complete.  I will be taking a small range of these to the next trade fair that's up and coming BCTF and if you are a gallery owner and make it to the fair, I will be on stand number 215.
New in the shop this week at 26 Bailgate is an exciting range of jewellery by Nottingham designer Jo Want - Hello Sunshine.  Jo makes a great range of die cut wood and acrylic pieces depicting birds, trees and cuckoo clocks, they really are delightful and very reasonably priced, starting at just £9.99 for a pair of swallow studs!!  Bespoke framed maps of anywhere in the world by Bombus are just in and looking fantastic and I am just about to unpack a box of delights from ceramic artist Katie Almond, photos to follow.
Oh happy days!!

Mid January

I am just back from doing a trade fair in London called Top Drawer and as I suspected, it was a lot quieter than usual due to the recession and folk being extra careful with their pennies.  I launched a couple of new ranges which went down well and I will be expanding on over then next few months ready for the next trade fair that I will be attending in April called the British craft trade fair in Harrogate.

Happy New Year

Happy new year from all of us at Midas.  We had a good Christmas in the shop with steady sales throughout December despite the economic hardships that are effecting everyone of us.  We all think its going to be another tough year in retail so i will be going to great lengths to create new jewellery ranges made by myself and searching out other exciting designer makers from across the country.

The first trade fair of the year is nearly upon us and I will be showing my current and new designs at Spring Top Drawer at Earls Court which starts on Sunday 15th until Tuesday 17th and my stand number is UDC18.  If you are a trade buyer do come along and place an order in time for Valentine day!

I am just waiting for some new beads and charms to arrive that will part of yet another new range i have been working on for a while, very exciting.  I will post some images on the blog as soon as i have made up my samples, these will then be available to buy from my pages at Not On The High Street.

I am currently working on some new jewellery samples pieces for the Yorkshire Sculpture Park which will hopefully be selected to go on sale as part of the merchandise for the Joan Miro exhibition which starts sometime in March this year.

Until I blog again, goodbye for now.
